Sara Holger from Project Get Outdoors is a special part of what makes Riverside unique! From teaching students about metamorphosis and storytelling to tapping maple trees in our school forest and leading field trips to Whitewater State Park and Oxbow Park, she brings learning to life through unforgettable outdoor experiences. This winter, when some of our families were afraid to leave their homes and students shifted to online learning, Sara created nature backpacks filled with supplies for them to continue outdoor learning at home. We are grateful for this partnership and the curiosity, wonder, and connection to nature it inspires in our students.

It was a great day of exploration, discovery, and learning outside the classroom!

Thank you to Operation One More, and to everyone who organized, donated, and volunteered to deliver. Your generosity made a meaningful difference for several local schools, including Riverside.

Nature came indoors for Kindergarten! Sara Holger from Project GO helped students create sound maps, using instruments that echoed animal calls like the loon and the elk, along with photos of the animals themselves.

We’re grateful to HyVee and Pasquale’s for donating such delicious, quality food to our Community School Resource Rooms. Your support means so much to our families!

A huge shout-out to Emily Soderberg for spearheading this effort and making such a meaningful impact.
