Sara Holger from Project Get Outdoors is a special part of what makes Riverside unique! From teaching students about metamorphosis and storytelling to tapping maple trees in our school forest and leading field trips to Whitewater State Park and Oxbow Park, she brings learning to life through unforgettable outdoor experiences. This winter, when some of our families were afraid to leave their homes and students shifted to online learning, Sara created nature backpacks filled with supplies for them to continue outdoor learning at home. We are grateful for this partnership and the curiosity, wonder, and connection to nature it inspires in our students.

Come meet ASL teachers and district staff, learn more about our ASL program, and share ideas, perspectives, and community voice. This event is open-house style, and light refreshments will be provided.

Snapshots from the last week of school at Riverside! From recognizing our amazing students to enjoying games and fun outside, these moments capture the joy, growth, and community that make Riverside special. A heartfelt thank-you to our dedicated teachers and staff who make it all happen every day. #OTTERPRIDE

Summer School Age Child Care (SACC) Registration is almost here! Choose your own schedule that works for your family. Rates are $50 per child and registration opens at 6:00 a.m. sharp on Wednesday, April 15: https://rochester.ce.eleyo.com/child-care/3/school-age-child-care

This is a reminder that there is no school on Monday, March 30, through Friday, April 3, for Spring Break.

Join us in celebrating the amazing people who make our schools a place where every student thrives in school and in life. As a small gesture of gratitude, we're continuing our annual tradition by inviting you to share a few words of encouragement with a staff member who has made a positive impact on you or your student. Your message can go a long way in brightening someone's day and reminding them just how appreciated they are. This year's cards are a nod to Rochester landmarks.
Visit www.rochesterschools.org/staff-appreciation and choose a card (or two) to send a brief, heartfelt message. We'll make sure your words are delivered to staff members during the week of May 11-15. Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10.

RPS is canceling school tomorrow, Monday, March 16, in anticipation of the blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service.
Here’s what this means:
Due to the anticipated severity of the storm, this is a complete district building closure. We will not be clearing parking lots until the storm has passed.
School Age Child Care will be closed.
All PAIIR, Preschool Age Child Care, Preschool, and Community Education daytime and evening classes for early childhood, youth, adults, and adults with exceptional abilities are canceled.
Hawthorne Education Center is closed.
All community building rentals are canceled.
All Professional Growth Academy classes are canceled.
All after-school activities and athletics are canceled.

Even our tiniest lobbyists are getting involved! Check out this video of Ms. Heil's kindergarteners making their formal plea to Jaycob: https://youtu.be/sIDZXtotrkA
Now, with a "historic winter storm" potentially hitting this Sunday into Monday, the whole district is asking the same question: WHAT WILL JAYCOB DO?
Stay tuned... the forecast is looking interesting...

Students learned about phytoplankton and zooplankton and used microscopes to observe the differences between the two tiny organisms. Quarry Hill educators also shared the history of microscopes and how microbiology helped scientists discover the microscopic world.
It was a great day of exploration, discovery, and learning outside the classroom!
Our Family Night celebrating the Power of Words was a beautiful showcase of creativity, connection, and student voice. We’re so grateful for your continued support in our schools!
