Principal Erin Rahman

Welcome to Riverside Elementary School!
I am truly honored and overjoyed to serve as the Principal of Riverside Elementary. Every day, I feel grateful to be part of a school community that is dedicated to the success, growth, and well-being of every child.

Since beginning my journey with Rochester Public Schools in 2000, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles—as a teacher, a middle school administrator, and, since 2018, a proud member of the Riverside Otter Family. I served as Assistant Principal here for four years before stepping into the role of Principal, and I could not imagine a better place to continue my work in education.

I am a passionate advocate for children and families, and I believe that schools thrive when they are built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a deep commitment to both academic and personal growth. At Riverside, we are focused on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child feels seen, valued, and inspired to learn.

Assistant Principal Melissa Brandt

Welcome to Riverside! I’m the assistant principal and am an advocate for students, families, and all things education. While working for Rochester Public Schools over the past 16 years, I have had the opportunity and privilege of spending time in the areas of family engagement, students in transition, teaching, and more. My two children attended the schools of Ben Franklin, Willow Creek, and Mayo High School, and their experiences helped shape my inspirations as an educator. In addition to being an inspiration, my children taught me to have fun, so if there’s chaos or silliness happening in the building, I’m probably making it worse in the best possible way.

At Riverside, we work to create a culture of learning and joy. Our Otter motto emphasizes excellent academic achievement, total belonging and kindness toward others, and inclusion of family in the development of student learning and growth. We are committed to being a powerful support in the educational journey of our Otters and look forward to celebrating the enthusiasm of each student…and having fun!
